Frequently asked questions

Can Shopify do this, or do we need custom development?
Often Shopify can, with a setting, Shopify Flow or an existing App Store app. We check that first and tell you if you don't need anything built. Custom development makes sense when the existing options don't fit how you trade, or cost more over time than building it once.
How much does custom Shopify development cost?
Smaller changes, such as a theme feature, a Flow automation or a focused Shopify Function, start from £1,500. A private custom app starts from £8,000 and takes three to six weeks. Every price is fixed and agreed in writing before work starts.
Do we need Shopify Plus?
Not for most things. Theme features, Flow automations and private apps work on every plan. Two things need Plus: custom apps that use Shopify Functions, and checkout extensions on the information, shipping and payment steps. We tell you which applies before you commit.
What are Shopify Functions?
Shopify Functions are small pieces of code that run inside Shopify itself, used to customise discounts, delivery options, payment options and checkout rules. Because they run on Shopify's side, checkout stays fast.
Will it break when Shopify updates?
We build with Shopify's current, supported tools, such as Functions, checkout extensions and theme app blocks, which are designed to keep working through updates. Retainers cover any changes Shopify's platform updates require later.
Who owns the code?
You do, once the project is paid. If you ever move to another developer, the code and notes go with you.
